Registered Dietitian
Wesley Enhanced Living is seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian to support the Director of Dining Services and Executive Chef in the areas of nutrition, dietetics, menu coordination, charting, data and statistical controls, and the development and implementation of healthy eating/weight management programs at our two continuing care retirement communities located in Northeast Philadelphia, and Doylestown, Central Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Recreation Assistant (Part-time)
The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Community Life by conducting assigned recreation activities. The Recreation Assistant must work in accordance with established policies and procedures; Performs related duties as required;. High school graduate or equivalent; ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic. Experience with geriatrics is preferable; Employee must be mentally and physically able to perform all essential job functions which require light to moderate physical effort; majority of time is spent walking/standing.

- The Utility Person washes dishes, glasses, and utensils according to proper procedure and to assist in maintaining sanitary conditions throughout the kitchen as instituted; Performs related duties as required.
- The Waitress/Waiter maintains a pleasant atmosphere at meal times by serving food and beverages efficiently and courteously. Maintains sanitary conditions at all times. Performs related duties as required.
- The Cook prepares nutritious, attractive, and good tasting meals according to menu. Prepares and serves meals according to schedule. Maintains proper food-handling techniques and sanitary procedures according to regulations. Performs related duties as required.

Dining Room Host/Hostess – Full Time - day/evening
An experienced Dining Services Host/Hostess, or a candidate with strong direct customer service experience in retail, banking, or other direct customer contact industries is needed to assist our residents during our lunch and dinner operations. Responsibilities include the preparation of the dining room for both meals by assisting and directing servers; Assisting residents with wheel chairs and seating other residents. Observation and assisting servers with taking orders, serving soups and entrees; assisting and directing servers bussing tables and resetting for next meal. Ensuring that the dining room is ready for the dinner meal. Prepare station plans for both meals. Bring down desserts and place in display case. Bring down soup and place in warmer. Watering of plants inside and outside of dining room. Alternating weekends and holidays.

Experienced Dining Services/restaurant cashiers or experienced retail cashiers are needed to process meal payments in our new Pennypack Café. Responsibilities include set up service stations. Check for sanitation. Restock as needed. Meet with cook about specials. Operating computer based register accordingly. Maintain sanitation through service time. Break down and clean equipment appropriately. Wipe down of counters, chairs, tables, etc.and close Pennypack Café.

Occupation Therapists – Full Time – Opportunities at Doylestown and at NE Philadelphia communities
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents providing excellence and innovation in aging services. As part of the interdisciplinary team the OT promotes and maintains the functional performance, physical mobility and well being of the residents through the implementation of occupational therapy services. The OT develops and implements medically prescribed Occupational Therapy in the health center and rehabilitation center to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body function. The OT directs resident participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The OT demonstrates ability to adapt examination techniques and treatment plans according to the needs of the resident. Demonstrates optimal case management of residents. Follows regulations, standards and proper procedures for documentation. Assumes a caseload appropriate to area. Follows proper procedures for billing. Follows proper procedures for insurance benefits. Seeks opportunities to enhance the services of the Rehab department.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, establish goals, implement, evaluate and re-evaluate individualized occupational therapy treatment plans for WEL Residents at multiple sites.
- Performs appropriate evaluations and treatment to residents including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises to improve residents ability.
- Use discharge planning skills to promote independence and maximize function .
- Demonstrates OT knowledge, skill and ability when developing systems, for planning, coordinating, evaluating, and implementing OT programs that ensure safe and efficient and therapeutically effective rehabilitation.
- Instructs resident, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the OT program.
- Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop activities consistent with each resident’s needs and capabilities.
- Complies with federal, state regulations and accreditation standards related to long-term care with regard to rehabilitation services.
- Documents daily treatments/evaluations and services provided. Maintains weekly progress notes and clinical documentation in resident medical record. Completes necessary rehab section of Minimum Data Set (MDS) within required time frame.
- Submits monthly billing data to Finance Department.
- Represent OT at required meetings on resident care, staffing and other subjects, under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
- Promotes effective and positive working relationships among rehab staff, residents and other WEL departments.
- Supervises and directs Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Aides.
- Follow Universal Precautions, Infection Control and Safety policies.
- Maintain confidentiality relative to resident care and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Regulations.
- Communicates essential information to the interdisciplinary team in regard to resident care and progress.
- Ensure that residents and families enjoy the best possible service, in a caring and compassionate atmosphere where the individual’s needs and rights are recognized and respected.
- Performs other related tasks within the scope of resident rehabilitation and WEL employee responsibility.
- Participate in educational and professional programs related to elder care, rehabilitation and quality improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of current occupational therapy field developments.
- Maintain license and registrations. Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all resident and/or employee-related information.
- Meets with resident/responsible party regarding therapy issues and concerns; answer questions and solve problems; investigate and respond to complaints initiated by residents, responsible party, staff, or family members.
- Supports, cooperates with, and implements WEL procedures and programs for:
- Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
- Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
- Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
- Compliance with WEL’s “Drug Free Workplace” policy in order to provide a safe work environment.
- Follow universal precautions and monitor staff performance of universal precautions.
- Ensure the department and staff meet the “Enhanced Living Standards”
- Attend and actively participate in management meetings. Communicate and interface with multisite management team in order to integrate objectives and activities.
- Provide periodic reports as required.
- Attends seminars, conferences and in-house staff development programs to stay abreast of new methods and technologies for rehabilitation services and health care administration.
- Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
Work Environment: The physical and mental demands of this position can be high, with varied care needs of residents in the management of frail seniors in a community setting. Frequently required to manage many details within a distracting environment.
Physical Requirements: Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Other physical abilities that are imperative include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, adequate fine and gross motor coordination, talking and hearing. Walking, standing, bending and sitting for extended periods. Requires full use of gross and fine motor skills of the upper and lower extremities.
Equipment/tools/machines Used in performance of this job: Proficient with occupational therapy tools and equipment. Computers, MS Office Software, copier, printer, and general office equipment.
Education or Degree Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy. Must be an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the American Occupational Therapy Association and certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements.
Licenses: Must have current unrestricted licensed as required in the state of Pennsylvania.
Registrations: Must be registered with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
Related Experience: Three to five years of experience in skilled nursing facility setting. Demonstrates sincere interest in working with frail senior participants. Demonstrates ability to work as part of the interdisciplinary team and make meaningful contributions to the development of the plan of care.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret policy, procedures, or governmental regulations written in the English Language. Ability to write memos in the English Language. This individual must be able to speak and read the English language in an understandable manner in order to communicate with residents, employees, family members, volunteers and the public.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and units of money.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrates ability to follow directions without constant supervision and to perform duties in a self -directed manner with minimal supervision or direction.

Enhanced Living Coordinator

We are seeking an energetic, creative self-starter to design, implement and lead a comprehensive schedule of recreational, educational, and social programs and activities for independent living and personal care residents. As you learn about WEL’s unique enhanced living philosophy and apply its principles and practices, you’ll play a key role in inspiring residents to look forward to their day and live their lives with renewed purpose and fulfillment. Must be high school graduate and have at least one year of experience working with individuals 65+. Post HS coursework in psychology, geriatrics or human development preferred. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
